An attempt is being made by some of the tech industry's largest companies in an effort to provide a secure _frame_work for mobile commerce (m-commerce).
IBM, Intel, and wireless provider NTT DoCoMo have joined forces to create the Trusted Mobile Platform. The hardware, software, and protocol specifications have been published to encourage cooperation and scrutiny.
The group's final goal is to establish various security levels for both hardware and software (depending on the type of communication involved) in an effort to help prevent viruses and ensure security, then submit specs to standards bodies for approval.
