From Cash to Electronic Payments: The Evolution of the E-Payment Industry |

This report presents a general view of what the e-payment industry is and how it works. It also discusses who the players are and the business models that have the potential to work effectively in the new millennium. We strive to provide a view of the payment industry as it is structured today as well as examine the most common methods of payment at the retail consumer level. Our goal is to explain the e-payments industry by illustrating the payment value chain, payment methods and payments instruments from a retail payment perspective. We intend for this document to be used for educational purposes as an introduction to the industry of e-payments by those new to the e-payments industry.
