The Manchester Building Society has launched a Maestro® debit card to extend its comprehensive portfolio of investment and mortgage products. Since its recent acquisition of Whiteaway Laidlaw Bank, one of its main priorities was to extend its banking facilities by offering customers the benefits of a debit card scheme, and Nomad, one of the market-leading card payment processors, helped them to realise this opportunity.
The complexities of the merger, together with migrating Whiteaway Laidlaw Bank's existing Switch card customers to Manchester's own host system (Summit), presented a number of challenges for the project. However, with the help of Nomad's team and their strong partnership with the Newcastle Building Society, acting as principal MasterCard member, the Manchester has been able to launch its new UK Domestic Maestro® chip product on schedule. Nomad's service provides both debit and prepaid card solutions. By combining its significant experience in debit with its industry leading capability in the prepaid card arena Nomad offers the solution best placed to satisfy the card issuing needs of the mutual sector. At the heart of the service is Nomad's CORTEX processing platform, one of the most advanced and comprehensive card payment solutions available today, and a significant factor in the success of the project. |
