US cards developer Innovative Card Technologies (ICT) has joined forces with identity assurance services supplier ActivIdentity to launch the Smart DisplayCard for e-banking, e-commerce and data access authentication. The product has been designed to secure financial institution customer transactions (login and transfers) at points of access (online, ATM, or by phone). For enterprises, the Smart DisplayCard provides an authentication option for Windows login, remote access, single sign-on and secure email/transactions. The device and credential management are managed via the ActivID Card Management System. The product features a one-time passcode display and a PKI chip into its card format. At the push of a button, the passcode is shown on the card's display. During an online transaction, the client enters this number into a user interface along with other information, including the user's login name and static PIN for multifactor authentication. The chip on the Smart DisplayCard allows for PKI login, email encryption and digital signature, and incorporates the SecureLogin SSO, ActivClient, ActivID Card Management System, 4TRESS AAA Server and 4TRESS Authentication Server. Eleven financial institutions and enterprises throughout the world have implemented the security device. Five of the deployments are already live, six are still in production for distribution to consumers in Q2 2008. The ICT DisplayCard has been selected by consumers to authenticate online banking, online brokerage, ATM and phone transactions at four financial institutions. Orders for three additional bank implementation are currently in production for card distribution. One enterprise institution has deployed the ICT DisplayCard for internal data systems login and VPN access authentication. Cards for another three enterprise deployments in production will be delivered to customers in Q2 2008. Internet infrastructure services provider VeriSign will select custom-branded ICT DisplayCards as an integrated hardware authenticator for the VeriSign identity protection authentication service. |
