MasterCard has partnered with Toshiba to deliver the MasterCard PayPass-enabled chip module. The chip module features a dual interface (EMV contact/PayPass contactless) and it is enabled with the M/chip 2 version of M/Chip application for IC card of MasterCard.

The two companies plan to launch the new chip module on the Japanese market by the end of 2008. Toshiba is responsible for production, while MasterCard will manage the expansion of chip module equipped cards on the market.

PayPass is a contactless payment feature developed and deployed by MasterCard.
