In 2008, UK holidaymakers are likely to pay GBP 284 million in fees for withdrawing cash from ATMs, a study reveals. An average withdrawal, equivalent to GBP 103 is to remove nearly GBP 107 from a customer's bank account, no matter if a debit or credit card is being used.

British holidaymakers who withdraw cash from foreign ATMs are paying fees of up to 4 percent. Debit cardholders will pay GBP 4.12 on average, representing charges, while credit cardholders will pay GBP 4.33.
