Online unmanaged business travel sales in US are expected to reach USD 162.4 billion, according to a study. Estimates indicate that in 2008, US travel sales booked online are to reach USD 105 billion, growing by 12 percent over 2007. For 2010 and 2011, US online travel sales are expected to climb to USD 128.9 billion (up by 11 percent) and USD 145 billion respectively (up by 12.5 percent). The study underlines the fact that despite a boost in sales, there is a drop in the number of travellers booking their trips on the internet. This situation is not due to economic concerns, but is caused by clients' frustrations in connection with the planning and booking capabilities of online travel agencies. The study has been published by research firm eMarketer. |
